Syro-Malabar Young Adults & Couples (SMYAC)
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
– 1 Timothy 4:12
Syro Malabar Young Adults and Couples – is a community of dedicated Cathedral parishioners committed to living and sharing our faith in a modern world. We strive to uphold Catholic values through a contemporary lens, inspiring spiritual growth and meaningful engagement. Guided by compassion and service, we commit to strengthening our community through charitable initiatives, outreach, and acts of service.
“SMYAC’s mission is to inspire modern Catholic living through faith formation, community engagement, leadership development, and compassionate service.”
SMYAC is committed to building a strong, sustainable, and spiritually grounded community, integrated into the greater Cathedral community, by focusing on both faith formation and organizational growth. Spiritually, the committee aims to host regular prayer meetings to maintain consistency, deepen faith, and encourage active participation, as well as other spiritual opportunities such as retreats. Its leadership structure lends to appropriate delegation, mentorship, and the development of spiritual leadership, especially by the inclusion of former leaders as advisors to guide current initiatives.
To ensure long-term stability, the committee will also establish recurring donation programs and work toward meeting annual financial goals while upgrading communication channels and different outreach tools. Consistent social media engagement, including regular event photos and updates, will help increase visibility and foster a stronger sense of connection among members.
SMYAC will prioritize inclusive engagement by reaching underserved demographics, maintaining and expanding use of the Youth Space, and coordinating intergenerational efforts with clergy and senior parish leaders. In addition, professional development opportunities such as leadership workshops or headshot sessions will be launched to support holistic member growth. Collaboration beyond the parish remains essential through joint service projects with other churches, active participation in diocesan and DYA events, and community-focused service initiatives that reflect the group’s mission to serve with faith, unity, and purpose.
